Why artist Nell takes inspiration from rock music – and nuns

Nell was born in 1975 in Maitland, NSW, where she was inducted into the city’s Hall of Fame in 2017. Her work draws on the imagery of rock ‘n’ roll and features favourite motifs including smiley faces, lightning bolts and raindrops.
