Joseph Kosuth is candid, astute and erudite. At the time of our meeting in Sydney, I was reading Pierre Cabanne’s dialogue with Marcel Duchamp and the latter’s views on the elastic definition of the word ‘intelligence’: ‘There is somethig like an explosion in the meaning of certain words: they have a greater value than their meaning in the dictionary.”
